Back in 2008 then Assemblyman Greg Ball voted to strengthen laws against criminal impersonation. Now State Senator Ball is in some hot water for potentially violating that same law.
According to Senator Ball’s opponent Justin Wagner, the Ball campaign sent out an email which purported to be from Wagner, but which actually led recipients to an anti-Wagner website owned by Greg Ball.
In a brief interview, Wagner told me the use of his name in the “From” field appeared to violate the law, but the question of whether it was illegal should be determined by the district attorney and the courts.
It’s now in the hands of the Westchester DA to determine whether or not charges will be filed.
