This Saturday MYD welcomed the TNSP for a day long workshop to discuss current military issues and issues of foreign policy.
The Truman National Security Project is a national security leadership institute, the nation’s only organization that recruits, trains, and positions a new generation of progressives across America to lead on national security.
Our mission is to provide the skills, knowledge, and network to create an influential force of leaders across the country who advance strong progressive national security policy.
Let me just say for the record that the caliber of the speakers at Saturday’s Truman National Security Project training exceeded all expectations. MYD’ers were treated to presentations by Truman Project Fellows, Veterans and experts in the fields of communications and Middle Eastern studies. We were truly honored that they took the time out of a summer Saturday to come to New York (all the way from DC and Boston) just to speak to us. I think we all walked away with a greater understanding of The United States Military, in addition to a call to action to engage young Service Members and Veterans in the progressive movement. MYD is making a commitment to start a conversation and to actively reach out to young Veterans and Service Members in Manhattan, and we’re looking forward to the change we can make together.
Check out pictures below! Special thanks to Andrea and Mike from TNSP for putting this all together, Marie at the Democratic State Headquarters for letting us use their space, Kanem and the MYD Foreign Affairs Committee for hosting the event and to Elizabeth & PS450 for feeding us!
