Three great events with Chelsea/West Village for Change!

For anyone who hasn’t been receiving Maki’s e-blasts, you need to know that tomorrow, May 18th, you’re invited to join us on a bus trip to Allentown, PA to help our friends at People for the American Way stop the Pennsylvania Republicans’ efforts to change the way the state allocates its Electoral College votes in presidential elections. We have to curb the aptly titled Bill 538–preserving the existing allocation structure (used in 47 other states) is essential to the integrity of our elections, Pennsylvania’s status as a key swing state, AND its economy.

The weather looks great, the bus leaves bright and early at 9 AM, and it’s FREE. We’ll be a greeted by a rally in Cedar Creek Park with great speakers, perhaps including the dynamic Mayor Ed Pawlawski, then head off to go door-to-door and gather petition signatures. You’ll be back by 6 PM with the knowledge that you’ve done a lot to help keep our democracy intact and on track.

We have 5 to 10 seats left, so RSVP asap here.

Monday, May 20th is a Gun Violence Prevention Day with a phone bank calling constituents of some of the “bad” senators who voted against expanded background checks on commercial sales in April and what we hope will be “good” New York members of the House of Representatives. The bill is coming back for a vote in the Senate and into the House as HR 1565 in a matter of weeks. Your calls will count toward public safety and save lives! We’re partnering with great organizations — Mayors Against Illegal Guns, NYC for Action, and New Yorkers Against Gun Violence–and we hope to be joined by some of the terrific women at Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America.

RSVP and all the information you need is here.

Oh–Please Save the Date for Wednesday, May 29th. There’s a lot happening that day and more information will be coming soon.

See you soon. Let’s get to work together and in good spirits!
