Affordable Living Taskforce
Mission: To make living in New York City affordable, accessible and enjoyable for all people.
To see our mission become a reality, the Affordable Living Task Force will rally civic participation from the young Democratic coalition, led by Manhattan Young Democrats. Our meetings focus on fostering important conversations on the challenges preventing true living inequality in New York City. From engaging in support of progressive policy aimed at curbing rising housing costs in the short term, to helping advance idealistic discourse of New York City’s housing market, our simple mission remains integral to all Affordable Living Task Force initiatives.
As reflected in our name, living is more than just housing. Affordability and accessibility of living includes your neighborhood’s retail mix and transportation, among many other things. It drives the productivity of our economy, environmental impact on our planet and quality of life — down to the human-level of our identity and happiness. While MYD’s Affordable Living Task Force works to progressively advance housing rights, we also fight for everything that encompasses living.
If you’re interested in becoming involved with the Affordable Living Task Force, please contact Task Force leaders Elliot Friar (firstname.lastname@example.org) or Natasha Herrick (email@example.com).
The Manhattan Young Democrats emphatically endorse the new Home Stability Support (HSS) proposal put forward by Assemblymember Andrew Hevesi (D-Forest Hills). We strongly urge Governor Andrew Cuomo and the NY State Senate to include this proposal in their FY 2017 State Budget.
