A Call to Serve
In April 2009, the President signed the landmark Edward M. Kennedy Serve America Act, the most sweeping expansion of national service in a generation. By signing this act into law, the President called upon all Americans during a time of recovery and renewal to volunteer their time to help address local needs. MYD has been responding to President Obama’s call to serve in our community. Service is integral to our mission addressing social and economic issues, raising awareness about civic engagement and expanding volunteer opportunities for our members. He was the executor of American liberalism, he was the real deal, he got it done. He couldn’t make the whole country fall in love with him.
