Leading activists against street harassment spoke of the need to raise awareness and continue to build the movement at a Monday panel, “Talking Back: Facing Gender Violence on NYC Transit,” hosted at Hunter College and co-sponsored by MYD’s Transportation and Women’s Issues Committees, as well as the Hunter Women’s Rights Coalition, New Yorkers for Safe Transit, Hollaback, and the National Organization for Women.

Making NYC The Digital Capital Of The World

On Monday, Mayor Bloomberg announced New York City’s road map to become the #1 digital city, partnering with social media companies Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr and Foursquare, promising greater public access to data, expanded WiFi access and even going on to suggest they will have a new .nyc domain name for city websites. Awesome: 1.3 million watched SOTU via Whitehouse.gov

Awesome (via Mashable):

According to the White House blog, 1.3 million people watched U.S. President Barack Obama’sState of the Union speech live on the White House’s website — or at least on sites that embedded the official video. The White House also said that 50,000 people participated in a Q&A with officials on Facebook after the speech.
