Gillibrand to Attend AZ Memorial Service
Senator Kirsten Gillibrand will travel with President Obama to Arizona today to pay her respects to the victims of Saturday’s shooting rampage. In a statement released today, Senator Gillibrand stressed unity:
Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. said that only in moments of darkness, can we see the stars. I hope in this time of sadness and loss, we can find new strength to come together as a nation and foster greater respect for one another.

Census Update
In a follow up to Al’s post, Senator’s Gillibrand’s post and Taylor’s post,the Times reported yesterday that “New York City’s mail participation rate was 59 percent, compared with the 57 percent rate recorded a decade ago.”
Some neighberhood by neighberhood breakdowns:
An examination of neighborhoods showed that a census tract near Todt Hill on Staten Island had a response rate of 84 percent, the highest in the city.
