The Skinny On Recovery
Tricks are for kids and Republicans. Here’s the real deal on the effects of the American Reinvestment and Recovery Act signed by President Obama. They say a picture is worth a thousand words but I only need one for this: wow.
In Hard Times, Love Blooms
Recent anecdotal evidence suggests that people are not dating less because of the recession; instead, online dating sites are reporting double-digit growth in use. Love, it seems, blooms in hard times. People’s defenses tend to dip. They don’t want to worry about money alone. They have a heightened desire to connect. Yeah, you could go online and try to find your soul mate. Or, you could join MYD for its many happy hours, or walk for AIDS and meet a cute Democrat later this month. Brace Yourselves
Compelling anecdote from a professional resume writer about the continuing flood of highly qualified yet suddenly unemployed Americans… I’ve interviewed dozens of job seekers in the past couple of months, from the recently laid off Starbucks store manager to vice presidents of Fortune 1000 companies. Some are seeking their first resume in a decade. Some want to replace two part-time jobs with one full-time job with benefits. I can usually tell when a company is about to announce layoffs because their managers start calling a couple weeks ahead of time. Almost every one tells me that they’re not getting calls back, despite having great credentials. Read the Rest (Daily Dish)
