Stimulus = Jobs?
Last week, the NY Times ran a story titled, Tallying Stimulus Jobs Is Not Easy in New York. Surprised? I wasn’t. Spending a week perusing Mayor Bloomberg’s NYC Stat Stimulus Tracker gave me a headache, and a less than awesome feeling about the ARRA’s public disclosure requirements. The Stimulus Tracker isn’t all failure. It lists programs as they are approved for ARRA funding, neatly categorizing them into 8 funding areas, and providing the total amount of dollars approved. Look hard enough, and you can even find the agency name and contact information for each program. The website also focuses on one important piece of information: the number of jobs created.
