Breaking: Harold Ford Jr. Decides Against Senate Bid
The New York Times reports: Under intense pressure from Democratic Party officials, Harold E. Ford Jr., the former Tennessee congressman, has decided not to challenge Sen. Kirsten E. Gillibrand in the primary this fall, according to two people told of his plans. He has told friends that, while he is convinced he could prevail against Ms. Gillibrand, he feared the winner of the primary would have little money and remain highly vulnerable to a well-financed Republican challenger at a time when the Democratic party controls the Senate by a slim majority.

Despite much rhetoric to the contrary, Senator Kirsten Gillibrand is quite charming in person, far more so than I had originally assumed prior to meeting her last Wednesday evening. I met her at a fundraiser scheduled by Young Professionals for Gillibrand, which was held at The Gates, a club on the West Side. Harold Ford, Jr. On Meet The Press
Former Tennessee Congressman Harold Ford, Jr. has been considering running for U.S. Senate in the special election against Gillibrand here in New York. There has been a lot of discussion about whether Ford is a New Yorker, what his positions really are, and whether he would be a good Senator from New York. Gillibrand’s campaign and the Ford camp have already been trading barbs. Both Ford and Gillibrand have also been courting donors. Replacing McNuggets With Grilled Chicken
“On a typical school lunch [today] you might have chicken nuggets, a couple slices of bread, Doritos and some canned fruit cocktail,” said Gillibrand. “That would be a typical lunch.
