Party politics is complicated and people throw terms around like state committeeman, district leader, party club, and county committee and almost no one knows what they all mean. Over the last week or so, I’ve been working to decode the tea leaves and come to grips with all the various layers of the Democratic Party here in the city and the state. County Party Update And Meeting

Months after the first County Committee meeting Manhattan Young Democrats is still in peoples’ minds. This Sunday we’re organizing a trip to the County Committee Executive Board meeting to show them we’re still ready to be active and helpful in growing the Democratic Party and Political Director Alex Voetsch got this response when doing the old phonebank: CC Member: Are you the insurgent group from the last meeting? Leadership Doesn’t Wait: MYD’s First County Committee Meeting

October 15 was the first meeting of the CouBennty Committee for 2009 and the Manhattan Young Democrats made history. If you weren’t there in person, you missed an amazing night, but you might have been there in spirit. MYDs success was only possible because young, engaged people decided to get involved and gave MYD the opportunity to make a difference. That night, MYD stood up to “politics as usual” — and succeeded.
