This is not the year for complacency. As Jon Stewart reminds us, even with a gift like Christine O’Donnell or Sharron Angle or even Rand Paul, it is completely possible for the Democrats to f*ck things up.
Yes, Andrew Cuomo will likely trounce Carl Paladino. Yes, Senators Gillibrand and Schumer seem poised to sail to victory. Yes, I can’t even name the GOP nominee for Attorney General. But here’s the problem: there are competitive House and State Senate races down ticket, and if Dems don’t show up because we assume that we’re going to win, we risk conceding important seats.
There are currently competitive House races in NY-19 and NY-1, with John Hall and Tim Bishop fending off strong Republican challengers. In the State Senate, Tony Avella and David Carlucci are working hard to turn two red districts blue. There is a lot of work to do.

The so-called experts are predicting major GOP victories this Fall. We can change that narrative, but we have to show up. Seriously guys, we can’t !@#$ this up!
