Today, A Step Forward – DADT Repeal Set to Pass
After passing a final procedural hurdle 63-33 the repeal of Don’t Ask Don’t Tell will come to a final vote at 3pm today. A up and down fight over the past year is coming to a positive and encouraging end today in the US Senate.
Breaking News: DADT Repeal May Have the Votes
Yesterday Senator Lieberman held a press conference saying that he was confident DADT repeal would get the 60 votes needed to avoid a filibuster. The Senator said “he’s received assurances from GOP senators Susan Collins (R-Maine) and Richard Lugar (R-Ind.).”
There are also reports out that Senator Ensign and Senator Murkowski will vote to allow the repeal to receive an up or down vote on the Senate floor. Things are moving in the right direction… Read More

Today marks the start of the lame duck session on Congress and what could be the last realistic chance for repeal of DADT. The repeal movement is gaining steam; Sec of Defense Gates has stated he thinks the policy should be overturned, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs Adm. The Constitution Has Spoken – ‘Stop Don’t Ask Don’t Tell’
Tonight Federal Judge Virginia Phillips of California told the military they must stop enforcing DADT because as she writes it:
“infringes the fundamental rights of United States servicemembers and prospective service members”
The move is part of a case brought by the Log Cabin Republicans over DADT and its infringement on 1st and 5th amendment rights. The injucntion is the next step in realizing that DADT should be repealed and that the entire concecpt is a farse.

Prop 8, AZ Immigration Laws and Healthcare Reform
As Taylor posted about below, today a federal judge in San Fransisco ruled that Proposition 8–which banned same sex marriage in the state of California–was unconstitutional. The ruling highlights that:
