President:
Taylor Stirek
Taylor moved to New York City from Las Vegas in 2000 to attend New York University and in 2007 earned a Bachelors in Art History and a Masters in Media, Culture & Communication. She joined the Manhattan Young Democrats in the summer of 2007 because she was interested in becoming more involved in the political process and working towards making a difference in this city. Taylor served as the Special Events Director of MYD in 2008 and as Secretary in 2009 is looking forward to the new responsibilities and challenges that come with taking on the leadership mantle of MYD.

Vice President:
Emmy Suzuki Harris

Emmy Suzuki Harris is a recent arrival to both New York City and the world of politics. A native of Tokyo, she graduated from Yale in 2006 and spent her first two years in the ‘real world’ working at McKinsey & Company in Seattle. She then worked on the Obama campaign as a deputy on the New Media and Data Team here in New York State. Emmy now works for Purpose, a strategy and technology start-up that helps brands and advocacy groups figure out how to use the power of online organizing to build movements for progressive change. She served as MYD’s New Media Director in 2009, where she spearheaded a wholescale revamping of the site and built out the organization’s online presence. She is excited to serve as MYD’s VP in 2010.

Reggie Thomas

Reggie moved to Manhattan in the Fall of 2003 and attended Pace University. After school he worked as a Special Assistant in the Manhattan Borough President’s Office. is now Director of Legislative & Budget Affairs for NYC Council Member Leroy Comrie. He is excited to serve in this role to ensure that MYD has all the resources it needs to continue to inspire, educate and activate young Dems throughout NYC.

Secretary:
Heather James

Heather James moved to New York in 2003. She has a BA in Political Science and Spanish and is currently a student at the CUNY Graduate Center. Heather joined the Manhattan Young Democrats to connect her passion for volunteer service to activism. She quickly became a believer in MYD and was happy to serve as the group’s Community Service Director last year. Heather looks forward to her new role as Secretary. In her free time, Heather works as a consultant for the New York Women’s Foundation and the Girl Scout Research Institute.
