Drawing The Lines
“Nothing will produce Bad History more directly nor brutally, than drawing a Line.” –Thomas Pynchon – Mason & Dixon Right now, across the country, our two major political parties are gearing up for a once-a-decade war whose winner will control Congress for the next ten years, and possibly more… Democrats and Republicans collude to keep these skirmishes private so that they can maintain total control over the ultimate political weapon: the ability to directly determine the outcome of elections. Why bother stuffing ballots when they can just draw districts? A new film, Gerrymandering, takes a behind-the-scenes look at the process of how lines get drawn and fundamentally alter the fabric of our democracy. Andrew Cuomo Announces Run For Governor
Andrew Cuomo released a short video this morning announcing that he will run for Governor of New York. He also released a longer video, 21 min, which I embedded below. On the other side of the divide stands State teacher unions and public school system advocates. They argue that the incremental encroachment … More >>

Based on the transpirings, it is definitely, as one person in the hall put it, “the day that every district leader waits for.” Proceedings began at around 6:10 at 461 Park Ave S., the Party (AKA MYD) Headquarters, and were kicked off by the last forum for the only office not yet accounted for: Lt. Governor. Bill Samuels and Christopher St. Lawrence were both present to make remarks. Bill Samuels Bill Samuels first point was that the Lt. Governor’s race is inherently unfair since the nominee … More >>
